The Center of Developmental Pediatrics turned our son’s life around. Not only did his occupational therapy improve his handwriting, his fine motor skills, his spatial awareness, and his coordination, most importantly, it made him comfortable in his own skin and confident in the world. He started there as a shy, fearful little boy, inflexible, hesitant to try anything new or unfamiliar, afraid to participate in basic games at birthday parties. Now he plays on a YMCA basketball team and even though he’s not a great athlete, he has a positive attitude and he can manage what comes his way. The transformation in our son through occupational therapy has been tremendous and we are so grateful for these amazing clinicians who helped us get to where we are now!

"OUR CDP Kids ARE
FLYING HIGH"
We really can't say enough about the wonderful impact CDP has made on our son's life. Right off the bat, our CDP therapist impressed us with an extensive and thorough evaluation of our son. We were blown away by the knowledge and expertise the therapist had and equally impressed with her ability to communicate and explain everything in the evaluation to us. She had very clear goals for our son and was very informative on her plan of action. It was amazing how quickly we saw progress with our son. We continue to see results all of the time as our therapist expertly builds on our son's strengths and always encourages him to succeed. All of the therapists at CDP are enthusiastic, positive people who use their expertise and their obvious love for the children to help them reach their goals. It is so apparent to us how much our therapist loves our son and is completely invested in his success. She is always just as excited as he is to come out at the end of the session and share his achievements. Her enthusiasm is contagious and our son absolutely loves her and loves coming to "play" with her every week at CDP.

CDP has been a huge blessing for my son. Probably the biggest benefit was his self-confidence. He has a language delay that caused him to not be confident in the classroom and certain social settings. He was struggling with his grades as a result. CDP had him working with the Integrated Learning System to help his cognition and attention. That was the technical piece. The other piece that I feel was just as important was the emotional side of my son. CDP taught him how to handle certain situations with the correct social response, showed him how to have confidence in asking questions in the classroom and encouraging him always with even the littlest of successes. When it was CDP day, he would run up the stairs to the room. He loved every minute of it. My son is now confident socially and in the classroom. His grades soared after a short time with CDP therapy. Today, no one would ever know he has a language delay. He is happy and succeeding in his school work and activities. I attribute all of it to the love and work that went into him from the therapists at CDP.

My wife and I have been taking our three-year-old son to Occupational Therapy at the Center of Developmental Pediatrics for almost a year now. Since his first day there, my son has made significant improvements with his motor skills, his language, his listening, his patience, and his transitioning from activity to activity. What a blessing this place has been to my son and our family! Although my son has made tremendous improvement, the staff is what I enjoy the most above anything else. They genuinely care for my son and the kids they see. As a parent, it's easy to tell whether professionals care as much as you do and these ladies do. I can't thank them enough for that even though I always try. I highly recommend the Center of Developmental Pediatrics. They truly love what they are doing!

I have experience working with Becky in two roles; professionally as a Speech and Language Pathologist and as the mother of one of her patients. I had the privilege of working with Becky many years ago in a school environment and I learned so much from her in my “early” years about Occupational Therapy. As a private practitioner, I am frequently referring my patients to Becky and her practice. When I decided to have my child evaluated and treated, I knew Becky was the one to see. Becky truly understands the “whole” child. Her energy and enthusiasm are unmatchable and her knowledge is beyond comparison. Becky is a gem in the world of Occupational Therapy and I feel so lucky to work with her.

I have known Becky Mahalec for over 8 years. As a pediatric speech language pathologist, I was constantly looking for an Occupational Therapist who could meet the various needs of the children I served from sensory integration to following motor plans to handwriting. After meeting Becky, the search was over for me! Becky easily developed rapport with some of my most difficult patients, despite their communication challenges. She spends a great deal of time giving parents strategies for home and school that help her work translate into other settings beyond her therapy room. Becky Mahalec not only has a tremendous amount of experience and a proven track record, but continues to build upon her knowledge by incorporating new ideas and research into her therapy. Among other professionals, she is widely known as the THE BEST occupational therapist in Houston, and she will continue to receive referrals from our practice.

The therapists at CDP are patient, supportive, and very knowledgeable in their expertise on helping children overcome obstacles. In addition, they offer progressive strategies for families to try at home as well as discuss long and short term goals. I would highly recommend CDP to any parent seeking occupational therapy for their child.
